V.L. “Bud” Brady, a lifelong resident of Marion, passed away early Saturday morning, June 5, 2010 at Kingston Residence of Marion.
Bud was born April 27, 1918 to the late Tyco W. and Carrie Beatrice (Lindsay) Arndt. He married Leona “Lee” M. Spence on October 26, 1946. Leona passed away August 5, 2006.
A graduate of Harding High School, Bud served with the U.S. Army in the Signal Corps during World War II. He retired from GTE after 42 ½ years of service, was a member of I.T.P.A., and was instrumental in bringing the Telephone Museum to Marion.
Bud was a 50 year plus member of: Marion Lodge 70 F&AM, Scottish Rite of 32nd Degree Valley of Columbus, and Aladdin Shriners & Marion Shrine Club. Bud had a passion for woodworking and loved to spend time on various projects. He was also a sports fan and enjoyed bowling.
Bud is survived by three daughters, Sally (Kevin) Kelly of Marion, Nancy (Rob) Smith of Huron, Ohio, and Connie (Danny) Russell of Marion; four grandchildren, Leslie Russell, Michelle Russell, Michael Edens, and Mark (Emily) Edens; two step grandchildren; two step great grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Nichols of Michigan, and Zoe Smith of Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Harry R. Brady; and sister, Geneva Nichols.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at 10 AM at Boyd-Born Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Marion Cemetery. Friends and loved ones can visit with the family Tuesday, June 8, 2010 from 4-8 PM at the funeral home. A Masonic Service will be held at 8 PM at the funeral home.
Contributions in memory of Bud may be made to Marion Heartland Hospice and Shriners Hospitals for Children.
