Bobby Joe Housley, age 72 of Marengo died unexpectedly Thursday, July 8, 2010 at his home.
With twelve siblings, he was born in LaFollette, TN on May 15, 1938 the eighth child of the late Jim and Ethel (Shepherd) Housley.
Originally from Columbus, he had been a Marengo resident for the last 32 years. Before retiring, he worked in the concrete trade with several companies.
An outdoorsman at heart, he treasured time spent fishing and camping. He possessed a vast knowledge of nature. Bobby enjoyed whittling, making sling shots and hand carved walking sticks.
He was a simple man who required nothing fancy and was a country boy at heart. Bobby would do anything for those in need, even giving the shirt off his back.
Survived by children: Robert (Treena) Smith of Galena, Larry Ramey of Sunbury, Diane (Glenn) Tigner of Logan, 12 Grandchildren, numerous Great-grandchildren, sisters: Esther Owen, Azalle McCullah , and Yvonia Morell all of Tennessee.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years: Mary Carol (Jones) Housley on April 15, 2010, and 4 brothers and sisters.
Friends may call one hour prior to the Wednesday 7 p.m. memorial services at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, SR’s 3 at 61, Sunbury.
