Edward J. Hirneise, 86, Marion, passed away on Thursday, July 8, 2010 at his residence.
He was born on October 5, 1923 in Marion to the late William and Cecelia (Schnauz) Hirneise.
Ed served in WWII in the Army Corp. He said France was the most beautiful place in the spring. Ed married Betty Hare on May 26, 1951 and was retired from the railroad, working for the Erie Lackawanna and later for Conrail.
Ed is survived by his wife of 59 years, Betty; children, Mary (Dan) Coons, Sue (Bill) Moore, Mike Hirneise, Mark Hirneise, Paul (Denise) Hirneise, Damian (Debra) Hirneise, Peter (Helen) Hirneise, and Christa Hirneise; grandchildren, Allen, Bob, Will, Elizabeth, Alex, Katie, Ben, Allyson Faye, Jaclyn, Kim, Michele, Brandon, Gabrielle, Chance and Brennan; 7 great grandchildren; sister, Clara Gillen, Cuyahoga Falls; twin brother, Jerry Hirneise, CA; and nieces and nephews.
Preceding Ed in death was a sister, Elinor Deffenbaugh and brothers Dick and Harold Hirneise.
A special note of Christa's boyfriend, Aaron Desmond, and Mark's ex-wife, Bert Hirneise – people this family would not want to do without.
A memorial mass will be held on Thursday, July 15, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Mary Church with Father Michael Nimocks Celebrant.
