Jerry R. Porterfield, 73, Marion, passed away on July 6, 2010 at his residence.
He was born on March 15, 1937 to the late Robert C. and Udah (Bilger) Porterfield in Marion, Ohio.
Jerry graduated from Claridon High School in 1955 and married his wife, Marilyn (Rose) Porterfield on September of 1957. He retired in 1998 with 43 years of service with the Erie and ConRail Rail Road.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Marilyn of Marion; children, Julia Hughes of Marion, Rebecca Porterfield of Bucyrus, and Amy (Brooks) Brown of Marion; grandchildren, Holly (Tyler) Gray, Josh Hughes, Shelby Hughes all of Marion, Jessica (Keithen) Branch of Ada, ohio, Mallory Garvin of Bucyrus, Alexandra Brown, Gabrielle Brown both of Marion; great grandchildren, Kinsley and Zaven Branch, Reese Garvin; sisters, Barbara (James) Temple of Marion, and June Stollsteimer of Phoenix, Arizona; as well as nieces and nephews.
Preceding Jerry in death were his parents, Robert and Udah; sisters, Virginia (Jean) Thompson, Helen (Chet) Dall, Shirley (Jack) Pickett and brother, Robert (June) Porterfield.
Family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 10, 2010 at Gunder/Hall & Folk Funeral Directors. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 10, 2010 with Rev. Matt Tramble Celebrant. Burial will follow in Marion Cemetery.
