Shirley J. Seckel, 75, of Marion

Shirley J. Seckel, age 75, of Marion died Friday afternoon, July 9, 2010 at her residence after a courageous two year battle with pancreatic cancer.

She was born on January 27, 1935 in Marion, the daughter of the late Wesley and Sally (Conley) Honaker.

A resident of the Marion area her entire life Shirley was a graduate of Marion Harding High School and was employed by Campbell Supply as their book keeper for 20 years.

On April 16, 1955 in Kirkpatrick, Ohio Shirley and Harold Dean Seckel were united in marriage.  Their union and friendship lasted 53 years until his death on November 24, 2008.

Shirley was an active member of the Red Hat Society. Whether she was playing cards at the Marion Senior Center or with Preceptor Beta Nu.  Shirley “Grammy” enjoyed spending quality time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchild.

She will be missed by her two children and their spouses, Connie and Bob White and Ron and Shelly Seckel both of Marion; her grandchildren Nathan White and his wife Jennifer, Tyler White and Mckensey and Kallie Seckel; her great grandson Brody White; her siblings Terry Honaker and his wife Jackie of Sycamore, Jack Honaker of Green Camp, Howard Honaker and his wife Deb, June Honaker of Marion, and Ellen Hartle of Pennsylvania; and her sister-in-law Barb Honaker of Marion.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her five brothers; Jimmy, Homer, Dick, Jerry, and George; and her sister Mary.

Friends may call on the family on Tuesday, July 13, 2010 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Denzer-Farison-Hottinger & Snyder Funeral Home, 360 East Center Street, Marion. Funeral Services will be held there on Wednesday at 10:00 AM with Dr. Richard Farmer officiating. Burial will follow in Marion Cemetery.

Memorial contributions, if desired, may be made to the Lustgarten Foundation, 1111 Stewart Avenue, Bethpage, New York 11714, with a 100% of the donations going toward the research of Pancreatic Cancer.
