Betty C. O’Bryant, 78, of Marion

Betty C. O’Bryant, 78, Marion, Ohio passed away on Sunday, August 8, 2010 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.

She was born on June 9, 1932 to the late George B. and Anna E. (Barten) Jones in York, Pennsylvania.

On February 25, 1966, Betty was married in Maryland to the Elder Franklin O’Bryant who survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Donald L. (Linda) O’Bryant of York, Pennsylvania and Timothy E. (Addie) O’Bryant of Mansfield, Ohio. One son, Franklin O’Bryant Jr. preceded his mother, Betty, in death. Other survivors include 8 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, a host of nieces and nephews, relatives and close friends.

Also preceding Betty in death were her brothers, Harlan and Lewis; her sisters, Beatrice, Sylvia, Margaret, Jeanette, Ruth, and Dorothy.

Betty was the First Lady of the First John Church of God in Christ. She served as the Sunday School Youth Director, Bible Teacher, and enjoyed total support of the church from local to national levels. Betty also was in charge of the Women’s Department of the Mansfield District Church of God in Christ, served as District Missionary, President of Hospitality of the Southern Joyce Dixon and National Hospitality, a channel 39 Christian Trustee and was part of the United Christian Women.

Friends may call upon the family on Friday, August 13, 2010 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Gunder/Hall & Folk Funeral Directors, 347 West Center Street, Marion, Ohio. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 14, 2010 starting at 11:00 a.m. in the Mayes Community Temple Church of God in Christ, 801 Bennett Street, Marion, Ohio, with Bishop F. E. Perry and host church Elder Mayes leading the services. Burial will follow the church services in Grand Prairie Cemetery in Brush Ridge.
