Cuba Elizabeth Wasson, age 104, of Marion, died Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at Marion Manor.
She was born on January 28, 1906 in Marion the daughter of the late Charles and Nora (Swartz) Kerr.
Aside from a short period of time spent in London, England, Scotland, and New Hampshire she has lived most of her life in the Marion area.
A woman of great faith, Cuba was a lifelong member of the 1st Presbyterian Church.
Whether she was playing the piano or riding her stationary bike at home, Cuba was always exercising both her mind and body. She also painted pictures, loved to sew kid’s clothes, and play cards with her friends at the Marion Senior Center.
While Cuba’s son, Dennis was in the Marines and the Navy Seabees she would travel to North Carolina, Mississippi, and California to visit him. She also enjoyed a special cruise to Hawaii.
She will be missed by her son Dennis and his wife Robin of Marion; granddaughter Dawnette Pynes; 3 great grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, and many cousins.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul in 1972; a daughter in infancy, Jill E. Wasson; a brother Harland Kerr; and a sister Dimmie Millisor.
Friends may call on the family on Thursday August 5, 2010 from 6 – 8 PM at the Denzer-Farison-Hottinger & Snyder Funeral Home, 360 East Center Street, Marion. Funeral services will be held on Friday at the First Presbyterian Church, 143 South Prospect St., Marion, Ohio, at 11:00 AM, with Pastor Rob Howard officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery, just south of Upper Sandusky.
