Edith Lydia Baker, 84, of Galion

Edith Lydia Baker, born November 6, 1925, in Harmony Township, Morrow County, Ohio, the daughter of the late Charles Wheeler and Clara (Taylor) Bowman.

She departs this life early Sunday morning, August 22, 2010, at 4:06 a.m. at the Galion Community Hospital.

Edith married Hylas Wilbur Baker August 28, 1943, at 7:00 p.m. in the Trinity United Methodist Parsonage in Mount Gilead by Rev. L. Eugene Rush.  He preceded her in death on November 6, 1996.

Including her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her two brothers: Gerald L. and Wilbur D. Bowman; and a niece, Kathy Sue Bowman.

She is survived by her brother, Dale E. Bowman of Burton, Ohio; and by nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was a member of the Grace Brethren Church, Golden Age Center and TOPS Chapter # 1369, all in Galion.

Her family will greet friends from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, August 25, 2010, at the Snyder Funeral Home, 76 South Main St., Mount Gilead.

Graveside services at Bryn Zion Cemetery on County Road 240, off Route 42 East of Mount Gilead, with Pastor Jeff Pennington of Grace Brethren Church in Galion, will officiate at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday.

Edith requests that flowers be omitted.  Please instead donate to your favorite charity.
