Joseph Messenger, 50, of Marion

Joseph Messenger, 50, of Marion, passed away on Monday, August 16, 2010 at his residence.

Joe was born on February 2, 1960 in Marion to the late Elmer A. and Willia Mae (Lyons) Messenger.

Joe was a member of the Marion Enterprise Baptist Church and assisted with the audio/visual aspects of the church until he was unable to assist. He served in the Navy during the late 1970's and enjoyed fishing, riding his Harley and loved being with his family.

Joe is survived by his brother, John W. Messenger of Marion; nephew, Barry (Jill) Rose Jr.; nieces, Karmann Rose, Hope Skerrett, Elizabeth Skerrett, and Jennitta Skerrett; 8 great nieces and nephews; a great family friend, Dean Armbruster.

Also preceding Joe in death was a brother, Edward Lee Miller; sisters, Joyce J. Rose and Elva Mae Skerrett.

Family will receive friends from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m on Saturday, August 21, 2010 at the Marion Enterprise Baptist Church, 130 Orton Street, Marion. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. in the church on the same day with Pastor's Fred Buckner and Jim McIntire leading the service. Burial will follow the service in Grand Prairie Cemetery with the Marion County United Veterans Council providing military honors. Gunder/Hall & Folk Funeral Directors are handling the arrangements.
