Reba Elaine Rogers, age 78, of Catalpa Lane, in Mount Gilead went to be with her Lord early Sunday morning, August 8, 2010 at the Morrow County Hospital Extended Care Facility.
She was born on September 7, 1931, on the family farm house in Fulton, the daughter of the late Meredeth and Myrtle (Hart) Shoewalter.
Reba was married to John Rogers on November 10, 1951. She was a graduate of Cardington High School in 1949.
Some highlights of her life were the class of 1949 reunions and get togethers with family and friends. Her love of making homemade ice cream has been passed on to her family.
She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Mount Gilead. She was led by her deep Christian Faith as a kind, caring, and loving person. She was always thoughtful and generous towards others and was a precious and faithful wife and mother. Her special laughter will be missed by many.
She was a member of the half century club, treasurer of the American Heart Association for over 25 years, member of the prayer chain, and sent get well and sympathy cards out to church members and friends.
She had worked at the Globe Hotel as a waitress before and after she got married. She also sold Avon for many years. She retired in 1988.
She will be missed by many.
She is survived by her husband John; their sons and their spouses, Lindy and Sheryl Rogers of Millersburg, Ohio and Keith and Donna Rogers of Mount Gilead, Ohio; grandchildren Stacy (Matt) Glass of Cardington, Jason Rogers of Key West, Florida, Eric (Robyn) Rogers of Norwalk, Ohio; great grandchildren Peyton and Rory Glass of Cardington; and her brothers and their spouses, Doyle and Pat Shoewalter of Mount Gilead and Larry and Linda Shoewalter of Mount Vernon.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sister-in-law Bonnie Shoewalter.
Friends may call on the family on Tuesday, August 10, 2010 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the Snyder Funeral Home, 76 South Main Street, Mount Gilead. Funeral services will be held there on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Rivercliff Cemetery.
