Rosemary “Mim” Coulson, age 75, of Marion, died Monday afternoon, August 2, 2010, at Marion General Hospital after twenty years of fighting several illnesses.
On November 17, 1934, Mim was born in Marion, Ohio, one of five daughters of the late Floyd and Eva (Endsley) Cornely. She graduated from Marion Catholic High School in the Class of 1952.
After being introduced by mutual friends, Rosemary and Clarence “Rich” Coulson have been together ever since. They were married on January 9, 1955, at the St. Mary’s Parish House, and have loved each other’s company for over fifty five years.
A loving homemaker, Mim enjoyed remaining at home to care for her and Rich’s three children: James, Rosemarie, and Timothy. A wonderful cook, she always made sure they were well fed.
In 1961, Mim and Rich moved to Alexandria, Virginia, for a position he had with the U.S. Postal Service. After twenty years there, she was happy to be able to return home to Marion to be with her family.
An avid weaver, Mim loved making “anything you could weave” such as placemats and rugs. She and Rich then enjoyed taking her creations to craft shows to display and sell.
Having made up a new set of rules for the game of dominos, Mim enjoyed when her family would get together to play their favorite game.
Sharing a special relationship with her sisters, Mim looked forward to their weekly lunches.
With a love for traveling, Mim and Rich loved to go and visit their children wherever they were. Also, she deeply enjoyed traveling abroad with her family and visiting Amish country.
Always greeting you with a warm smile, Mim remained strong and determined through all of her crises. She never complained or held any “pity parties” for herself.
Mim will be dearly missed by her husband, Rich Coulson of Marion; three children: Rosemarie (Tom) Gay of Plymouth, Indiana, and their children: Jacob and Morgan Gay; James (Donna) Coulson of Friendswood, Texas, and their children: Brandon, Robert, John, Jimmy and Laura Coulson; and Timothy Coulson of Marion; four sisters: Sandy (Les) McGuire, Marge (Donald) West, both of Marion, Jill (Robert) Zimmerman of Roanoke, Virginia, and Jane (Michael) Mann of Ashville, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The Coulson family will greet friends from Noon to 2 p.m. on Friday, August 6, 2010, at the Denzer-Farison-Hottinger & Snyder Funeral Home, 360 E. Center St., Marion. Services celebrating her life will immediately follow visiting hours at 2:00 p.m., with Rev. Gale Green officiating. Burial will be observed privately by family at Marion Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Central Ohio Diabetes Association, 1100 Dennison Ave., Columbus, Ohio 43201.
