Helen M. Niederhuber, age 102, of Marion, and formerly Steubenville, Ohio, went to be with the Lord on Friday morning, September 3, 2010, at Primrose of Marion.
On October 29, 1907, Helen was born in Portsmouth, Ohio, the daughter of O.A. and Jennie (Long) Smittle.
In 1937, Helen married William H. Niederhuber who preceded her in death in December of 1990 after spending 53 wonderful years together.
Helen will be missed by her sons: John E. Niederhuber of Potomac, Maryland and James (Mary Ann) Niederhuber of Marion, grandchildren: David (Deb), Brenda (Shawn) Davis, Michael (Fiancée Amanda Dune), Sara, Matthew, and Elizabeth; great grandchildren: Joshua and Emerson Davis; and several nieces and nephews.
Including her husband and parents, Helen was preceded in death by her brother, George Smittle; and a sister, Violet Schultz.
Calling hours will be held Wednesday, September 8, 2010 from 9-10 a.m. at Denzer-Farison-Hottinger & Snyder Funeral Home, 360 E. Center St., Marion. A funeral service will follow with Pastor Charles Reed officiating. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery in Steubenville, Ohio, where graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. officiated by Pastor Bill Block.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital at The Ohio State University in memory of Helen Niederhuber.
