Ruby B. Craze, 93, of Marion

Ruby B. Craze, age 93, of Marion and formerly of Mansfield, went to be with the Lord on Sunday afternoon, September 5, 2010, at the Marion Manor Nursing Home following a nine month illness.

On April 12, 1917, Ruby was born in Hughes Creek, West Virginia, the daughter of the late James and Eliza Balser.

In 1943, Ruby found love in Thomas W. Craze. Together they lovingly raised one child together, Ann, and they moved to Mansfield, Ohio in 1952.  She has been widowed for many years as he preceded her in death on July 4, 1972.

A loving homemaker, Ruby proudly moved to Marion with her daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Jim, in 1978.

Having a deep faith in the Lord she loved the frequent visits from Pastor Phil Williams . She read her Bible and her Daily Bread booklet every day.

In her younger days, Ruby enjoyed embroidering, making many doilies, pillowcases and scarves to cover dressers.  She also enjoyed her African violets, which she would share with any one she could.

Sharing a special bond with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, Ruby absolutely loved baby sitting them and simply having them around.

A “wonderful” mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Ruby’s family will forever cherish what she has meant to their family.  She was a generous and unselfish woman who always made time for them.

She will be dearly missed by her daughter, Ann (Jim) Young of Marion; stepson, Ed (Marcella) Craze of Arizona; two grandchildren: Lisa (Tim) Cluff of Marion, and their children: Ryan, Alex, and Jacob Cluff, and one more on the way; and Eric (Lori) Young of Dunn, North Carolina, and their children: Bailey, Lucas, and Sam Young; and a sister, Irene White of Smithers, West Virginia.

Including her husband and parents, Ruby was preceded in death by numerous step sons and daughters, sisters and brothers.

Ruby’s family will greet friends from 6 – 8 p.m. on Wednesday, September 8, 2010, at the Mt. Vernon Ave. Church of Christ, 947 Mt. Vernon Ave., Marion.  Services celebrating her life will also be held there on Thursday at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Phil Williams officiating.  Family and friends are invited to a fellowship meal in her honor immediately following the services.  Graveside services will be held in Montgomery Memorial Park in London, West Virginia, on Friday at 1:00 p.m.

The Denzer-Farison-Hottinger & Snyder Funeral Home is honored to have been chosen to serve the family of Ruby B. Craze.
