Dorothy June (Long) Dotson, 81, of Marion, Ohio went to be with her Lord, after a brief illness, on Saturday, October 23, 2010 at The Ohio State University Medical Center.
Dorothy was born on June 18, 1929 to John Homer and Addie Mae (Eckard) Long in Marion, Ohio.
She was a member of the Marion Church of Christ in Christian Union and held several positions, including: Missionary president, board member, Sunday School teacher , and pianist. She loved the Lord and working for Him through her local church. She enjoyed attending Mount of Praise Camp Meeting, and camping with her family and friends.
She is servived by her husband of sixty-two years, Edward Dotson; one daughter and son-in-law, Patricia (Dotson) and Joe McBeth; one son and daughter in law, Timothy and Janine (DetWiler) Dotson; one brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Joann Long; four grandchildren, Brynne McBeth, Benjamin Dotson, Alyssa Dotson, and Cady McBeth; numerous nieces and nephews, and many special friends.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Pamela Sue Dotson; two sisters, Garnet Cramer and Pearl Milligan Shoaf; and two brothers, Gerald Long and Dwight Long.
A gathering of Family and friends will be held Monday, October 25, 2010 from 5:00 PM till 8:00 PM at Gunder/Hall & Folk Funeral Directors. A celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at 10:30 AM at the Marion Church of Christ in Christian Union. Burial will be in Grand Prairie Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Marion Church of Christ in Christian Union Building Fund, 1709 Bellefontaine Ave., Marion, Ohio 43302.
The family wishes to express heartfelt gratitude to Dr. John Linn and the Surgical Intensive Care Unit nurses at the Ohio State University Medical Center.
