Emily T. Moore (nee Pinckney), passed away peacefully on October 28, 2010, at her home in Marion at the age of 88, surrounded by her seven children and extended family.
She was born on September 19, 1922 in Bluffton (Pinckney Colony), South Carolina to the late Cotesworth and Cynthia (Langford) Pinckney.
She was a long-time resident of Marion, and an active member of St. Mary Parish, including serving as director of the bereavement committee and a CCD teacher for more than twenty years. In addition to her church activities, Emily was widely known for her talents as a seamstress.
She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-one years, Harry J. Moore; five of her sisters and her four brothers. She is survived by two sons, Michael (Viv) Moore of Tecumseh, MI, Rob (Jenny) Moore of Hudsonville, MI; five daughters, Debbie (Ron) Caffo of Apex, NC, Cornelia (Tom) Grishkat of Pickerington, OH, Julie (Kirk) Macfarland of Allendale, MI, Therese (Paul) Conkle of Gahanna, OH, and Martha (David) Upp of Gahanna, OH; seventeen grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren; and one sister, Ruth Johnson of Savanna, GA.
Her favorite saying, "Don't thank me, thank the Lord," was an inspiration to all and guided her throughout her life. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Family will receive friends from 2 – 5 p.m. on Sunday, October 31, 2010 at Gunder/Hall & Folk Funeral Directors with parish prayers at 2 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on November 1, 2010 in St. Mary Church with Fr. Michael Nimocks celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.
