Morgan “Bud” Burke, 90, of Marion

Morgan “Bud” Burke, age 90, formerly of St. Petersburg, Florida, and of Marion, Ohio, passed away on October 6, 2010 in Memphis Tennessee.

He was born in Worthington, Ohio, on June 20,1920, the son of Morgan E Burke Sr. and Dorothy (Bush) Burke.

Bud was a business graduate of Ohio University in Athens, Ohio.  While there, he met and married his loving wife of 62 years, Ellen, who preceded him in death in 2006.

Bud was a military veteran who served in Africa and Europe during World War ll.  After returning from service, he and Ellen made their home in Marion, Ohio.  While in Marion, Bud was a prominent businessman who owned Uhler’s Department Store.  He also was a board member of Marion County Bank, member and a past president of Marion Country Club and member of First Presbyterian Church.  He was an avid sportsman, who loved to fish and golf.

In 1993, Bud and Ellen relocated to St Petersburg, FL, where Bud remained until 2009 when he moved to Collierville, TN.

Bud will be missed by his daughter, Robin and her husband Charles Leffler of Collierville, TN; son, Brent and his wife Lori Burke of St. Petersburg, FL; granddaughter, Noelle and her husband David Dunavant of Collierville, TN; and by his two beloved great-grandchildren: Madison and Avery Dunavant.

The family will receive friends from 1 – 2 p.m. on Friday, October 22, at the Denzer-Farison-Hottinger & Snyder Funeral Home, 360 E. Center St., Marion.  Memorial services will follow immediately at 2 p.m.  Burial services with military honors provided by the Marion County United Veterans Council will then take place in the Marion Cemetery.
