Richard Kale Severns, 76, of Marion, went to be with his Lord Thursday, October 28, 2010 at 6:30 a.m. at his home with family by his side.
"He fought the fight and won the race."
He was born on November 29, 1933 in Marion to the late Sheridan L. and Mary A. (Earley) Severns.
On February 22, 1953, he was joined in marriage with Marilyn D. (Brady) who survives.
"Dick" retired after over 40 years as General Manager with Asher Lumber and Roofing.
He is also survived by 4 sons, Michael D. (Vicki) of Prospect, Oh., R. Mark (Marie) of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Mathew D. (Michelle) of Caledonia, Oh., and R. Mell (Dee) of Mt. Vernon, Oh; A brother, Roger D. (Doris) Severns of Marion; daughter-in-law, Maureen Severns of Marion; 14 grandchildren, Lindsey Craig, Andrea & Kale Severns, Whitney (Micah) Werling, Mackenzie, Landon & Levi Severns, Devin & Luke Severns, Benjamin & Micayla Severns, Randy, Richard & Raymond Banks; great grandchildren, Carson & Corbin Craig, Brady Werling, Parker Banks, and Owen Severns.
Dick formerly worked at Fairview Gardens and enjoyed flower gardening. He was an active member of Marion First Church of the Nazarene where he found God to go along with his love of family.
Friends may call on Friday, October 29, 2010 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Marion First Church of the Nazarene, 233 W. Church Street, Marion, Ohio. Funeral services will be held in the church on Saturday, October 30, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Riley Powell & Rev. Mark Allis officiating. Burial will follow in Chapel Heights Memory Garden.
