Margaret R. Garlinger, age 80 of Marengo passed away suddenly Saturday, October 30, 2010 at Morrow County Hospital.
She was born on May 17, 1930 in Columbus to the late John W. and Helen R. (Wilgus) Steck.
A lifelong resident of the Marengo area, she had worked as a assembler for Kilgore Manufacturing for 11 years and National Electric & Coil for 28 years.
Margaret was a member of the Pythian Sisters, Red Hat Society, Fargo Wesleyan Church, and a life member of American Legion Post #710 Ladies Auxiliary. Over the years she cooked countless meals for the Legion and those in need.
Always the entertainer, she was happiest playing the piano, cooking, or sewing; making grandma and grandpa dolls. A collector of dolls, she lived life to its fullest. Both giving and caring, she treasured her grandchildren and their accomplishments. She was most proud of her girls and her ability to help them with their college education.
She leaves to treasure her memory daughters: Karlene (Mike) Jordan of Edwardsville, IL, Freda (Doug) Clark of Marengo, 5 Grandsons: Ryan (Becky)Clark , Adam (Emily)Clark , Jason Trout , Donnie (Tiffany)Jordan , and Grant Jordan, Great-grandsons: Aidan and Pace Clark, and sister: Connie R. (Ronald) Weikel of Fredericktown.
Preceded in death by husband: Charles Garlinger, Tom Hoskinson, and the father of her children: Howard McKenzie.
Friends may call Tuesday 4-7 p.m. at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, St Rt’s 3 at 61 in Sunbury. Funeral services will be held Wednesday 10:30 a.m. at Marengo United Methodist Church with Rev. Sue Antolik officiating. Burial will follow in Marengo Cemetery.
