Mary Elizabeth (Benson) Appelfeller, 80, of LaRue

Mary Elizabeth (Benson) Appelfeller, age 80, of LaRue, passed away peacefully at her home in LaRue on November 16, 2010 surrounded by family after a brave battle with Palsey and Cancer.

She was born November 10, 1930 in Hardin County outside LaRue to the late Esley and Anna (Wolf) Benson.  On November 24, 1951 she married Joseph E. (Joe) Appelfeller and he died December 27, 2001.

Mary will forever be remembered by family and friends as exuberant, fun loving, and caring. Her favorite times were when she was with family and friends especially when the gathering came to a point of  reminiscing and singing together. Her brightest moments might very well be the times she spent caring for loved ones. Mary was a lifetime member of the former St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in LaRue and was presently a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in  Kenton.

She is survived by sons; John (Lisa) Appelfeller of Fort Worth, Texas, Mark Appelfeller of Louisville, Colorado, and Matthew Appelfeller of LaRue. Daughters; Julie (William P.) Gracely of LaRue and Marna (Dave) Salmons of Bellefontaine,  Grandchildren; Darrah, Jennifer and Catherine Appelfeller, Will and Liz Gracely, Colman and Mark Salmons.  Brothers Jim Benson of Marion and Frank Benson of LaRue.  Sisters; Alice Cochran of TN, Irene Ballinger of CA, and Barbara Cronin of FL. And many loved nieces and nephews. Sisters-in law Rose Benson of LaRue and Bets Benson of MO.

Along with her parents and husband she was preceded in death by brothers Walter, Ed, John and Tom.

Family will receive friends at a celebration of life which will be held Friday November 26, 2010 from 4 to 8 PM at the Dry Lane Construction Party Center 376 Dry Lane Rd. LaRue, Ohio.
