Robert James Robinson, age 78 of Larue died at 8:00 am. Saturday, October 30 at the Sandusky Ohio Veteran's Home after a lengthy battle with Parkinson's Disease.
Bob (Robby) was born March 1, 1932 in Marion to the former Marion Mayor, Harold F. Robinson and Elma M. (Sisson) Robinson, who both preceded him in death.
In January 1951, he enlisted in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict where he worked as a F86 jet engine mechanic. He was a recipient of the Korean Service Medal, two Bronze Stars, the UN Service Medal, the National Defence Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal.
On December 30, 1955 in Morral, Ohio, he married Mary E. Atha, who survives. He was owner-operator of Robinson Electric Service for 30 years. Bob was as avid sportsman and gardener. He and his wife also raised golden retrievers.
He is survived by three sons; Michael E. Robinson, John Patrick (Marsha) Robinson and Neil F. Robinson, all of Marion, two grandchildren, Michelle Christine Robinson of Kettering, OH. and Seth Tyler Robinson of Marion, one sister, Virginia (Ray) Lichtenberger of Prospect. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold B. Robinson and Gerald E. (Jerry) Robinson, and one sister, Mary E. Robinson.
Calling hours will be observed from 4 – 8 PM Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at Boyd-Born Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Thursday, November 4, 2010 with Rev. Dale Baker officiating. Burial will follow at Grand Prairie Cemetery with the Marion County Veterans Council holding a military service.
