Earl D. “Jack” Chapman, 79, of Marion

Earl D. "Jack" Chapman 79, of Marion formerly of West Virginia passed away Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at Marion General Hospital.

Jack was born February 21, 1933 in Culloden, West Virginia to the late Arvil and Clara (Vance) Chapman.

On December 12, 1965, he married the former Maxine Wallace Church, who survives in Marion. Also, surviving is one daughter, Susan (Chuck) Conrad of Laureville, and two sons, Christopher (Sheila) Chapman and Patrick Chapman both of Marion, and two grandchildren, Ashley and Katelyn Hunt of Marion.

Jack was a Korean and Vietnam War Combat Veteran, and retired from Liebert Corporation of Delaware and Columbus in 1997.

Jack was one of nine children. He is survived by six sisters and two brothers: Lola Mitchell of West Virginia, Sylvia Bowles of Florida, Macel Tyree of West Virginia, Cricket (Preston) Miller of West Virginia, Reba Carpenter of Texas, Nellie (Winfred) Curry of West Virginia, Ernest (Bonnie) Chapman of West Virginia and Paul "Bud" (Judy) Chapman of Georgia. Jack is also survived by specisl friends Theresa Boltz and her children: Nicholas (Katie) Waddell and their daughter Ava, Neva (Dustin) Kitts and their sons Jackson and Jayse, Nathan (Krissy) Waddell and their daughter Aaliyah, and Mikala Bolts, as well as special friend Angie Borland and her two daughters Kylie and Allison.

He leaves behind a fresh pot of hot coffee for all the coffee gang at Meijers.

Services are being handled by the Boyd-Born Funeral Home 122 W. Columbia St. Marion, Ohio. Calling hours will be Saturday, December 11, 2010 from 12 – 2 PM with a service directly following calling hours with Winfred Curry officiating. Burial will take place Monday at Marion Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans or a veterans organization of the donors choice.
