Garnet L. Fetter of Kingston Memory Care, formerly of Center Park Dr. in Marion, went to be with her Heavenly Father on December 14, 2010 at 7 AM.
Garnet was born on July 17, 1924 in Marion to the late Eugene C. and Lillian (Schlecht) Smith.
On January 12, 1947 she married Charles D. Fetter at Emanuel Lutheran Church by the late Rev. M.E. Hollenson.
Garnet is a 1943 graduate of Marion Harding High School. She began her working career at Woolworths, and then went into the banking business working at Marion County Bank and then retiring from Fahey Banking Co. She was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church and Marion Senior Center. She was a past member of Morral Pythian Lodge, and Ridgedale Boosters. Garnet was a great supporter of her children’s and grandchildren’s activities.
Garnet was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, PFC Lester C. Smith; a son, Jerrold E. Fetter; and grandson, Torrey D. Fetter.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Thomas (Diane) Fetter; a daughter-in-law, Cheryl Fetter; grandchildren, Tabitha (Ryan) Cook, Gayle Fetter, Abbey Fetter; and great grandchildren, Noah Cook, Hannah Cook, and Adley Haines.
Calling hours will be held Thursday, December 16, 2010 from 5-8 PM at Boyd-Born Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Friday, December 17 at 10:30 AM at Emanuel Lutheran Church officiated by Pastor Mark Schuring. Burial will follow in Marion Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Tim Emery, Terry Emery, Steve Fetter, Richard Fetter Jr., Ryan Cook, and David White.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Emanuel Lutheran Church’s Good Samaritan Fund, Alzheimer’s Association, and Marion General Hospital’s Hospice program.
