Marie (Parsley) Neely, 94, of Cardington

Marie (Parsley) Neely, age 94 of Cardington passed away Tuesday, December 7, 2010 at Riverside Hospital surrounded by her beloved family.

She was born on June 8, 1916 in Kermit, WV to the late Mitchell H. and Elizabeth (Lawson) Parsley. Originally from Columbus, she had been a resident of the Cardington area for the past 42 years.

Devoted and loyal in caring for the needs of her family, she was a woman of tremendous inner strength.  One not afraid of a good days work, she was strong willed.  An avid gardener, especially of half white runner green beans, she canned her bounty to feed her large family.

She loved the fresh air of the outdoors.  Marie enjoyed sewing and quilting when she was able. A member of the Victory Freewill Baptist Church she was happiest surrounded by her family. Her holiday and Easter dinners will long be remembered.

Survived by her children: Virginia (Al) Moyer of Amanda, Oretha (Percy) Boston of Leetonia, Dixie (Dave) Bliss of Columbus, Harlan Morrison of Newark, Hayden (Beth) Morrison of Mt. Sterling, Joseph (Ada) Morrison of Columbus, and Canna Morrison of Mt. Gilead, Rita (Donald) Hahn of Ocracoke, N.C., Terry Neely of Marengo, Teresa Schuman of Cardington,  26 Grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, numerous great-great-grandchildren, brothers: Homer and Howard Parsley of Columbus, Alpha Parsley of Delaware, Robert Dotson of Baltimore, and sister Lorraine Sammons of Columbus.

She was also preceded in death by her husband of 55 years: Carlos in 2008, daughter Anna Louise Morrison, grandchildren: Eric and Katina Morrison, Rhonda Harris,  sisters Lillian Brumfield, Annis Marcum, and brother Hayden Parsley.

Friends may call Saturday from 11:00 until 12:00 noon at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, SR’s 3 at 61, Sunbury, where services will follow at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Keith Brumfield officiating, burial will follow in the Glendale Cemetery in Cardington.
