Roger H. Campbell, 86, of Marion

Roger H. Campbell, 86, stepped into the arms of his Savior on Wednesday, December 23, 2010, at Marion General Hospital, Marion, IN.

Roger was born on July 7, 1924, in Springfield, OH, to Earl and Amy Jett Campbell.

On July 4, 1945, he married N. Jean Campbell, she survives. They resided in Marion, OH, until December, 2009, when they moved to Marion, IN.

He was a WWII veteran of the US army from 1942-1945 and a POW from 1943-1945.

He was employed for 30 years by the Marion Star, Marion, OH, as a typesetter and later by Bruno’s Produce. He was a member of the Dayspring Wesleyan Church, Marion, OH, and served as an usher. He was a member of the State of Ohio Ex-POW Association and served as their chaplain for many years.

Also surviving are three sons:  Craig (Marla) Campbell, Marion, OH, Ron (Sharon) Campbell, Marion, IN, Brad (Lisa) Campbell, Marion, IN, eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his 3 brothers and 2 sisters.

Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 27, at the Dayspring Wesleyan Church,  2431 Marion Mount Gilead Road, Marion, OH, with Pastors Charles Osborne III and David Holdren officiating. Interment will be in the Green Camp Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 – 6 p.m. on Sunday, December 26, at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home, Marion, OH, and one hour before the service at the church.

Memorials may be made to the Dayspring Wesleyan Church Building Fund.
