Charles Stevie Lewis, 74, of Marion passed away Sunday, January 9, 2011 at Marion General Hospital.
Charles was born October 10, 1936 in Moon, Kentucky to the late Stevie and Roseanna (Roseberry) Lewis.
He married Lola Marie Ward April 17, 1959 in Plain City, Ohio.
Charles was a member of Marion Enterprise Baptist Church where he was a former Sunday School Superintendant and deacon. He retired from Marion Power Shovel after 43 as a welder and fork lift operator. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and took many trips to southern Ohio trekking through the hills with his sons and friends; even Lola went hunting with him a few times. Charles went camping and fishing all the time with his children. He liked motorcycles, and he and his wife enjoyed taking motorcycle trips with their friends. In the past he went to bluegrass festivals with his family. Charles also enjoyed driving to Amish country and the surrounding countryside with his wife and grandkids. He loved spending time running around the yard playing with his great grandkids, and giving them rides around the yard on the lawn mower. He also enjoyed rocking and singing to his grandkids and great grandkids.
Charles is survived by his wife of 52 years, Lola Lewis; seven children, Brian (Pam) Lewis of Marion, Penny (Dayln) Russell, Sr. of Whitehall, Ohio, Laura McKenzie of Sunbury, Ohio, Evelyn (Chris) Lacey of Columbus, Ohio, Ellen Carr of Marion, Charles Stevie (Teresa) Lewis of Columbus, and Gale Lewis of Marion; 20 grandchildren, Brian Hunter, Hannah, Jordan, Brandon, Dayln Jr., Ciarra, Camarra, Whitney, Eric, Amy, Robyn, AJ, Heather, Bobby, Michael, Josh, Charles Stevie III, Christy, Jacob, and Rebekah; 12 great grandchildren, Jayden, Dalton, Brayden, Colton, Adyson, Julia, Ava, Anthony, Evan, Destinee, Barrett Charles, Liliane; brother, Ernie (Ettaree) Lewis of Flatwoods, Kentucky; and sister, Faye (Carson) Hutchinson of Elkfork, Kentucky; and extended family, life-long friends, and special neighbors.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Jackie Lewis; and sisters, Willadean, Josephine, Marie, and Sara.
Calling hours will be held Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at Boyd-Born Funeral Home from 3-5, 7-9. A funeral service will be held Thursday, January 13 at 10:30 AM at the funeral home. Pastor Jim McIntire will officiate the service. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in North Lewisburg, Ohio.
