Dorothea M. Street (nee Haynes), age 85, Marion, passed away on Sunday, January 9, 2011 at the Community Healthcare Center after a long and brave struggle with cancer and other illnesses.
She was born on April 17, 1925, to Edward and Juanita (Honaker) Haynes.
She lived most of her life in Marion and loved to share the city's history with the students from Marion Technical College who visited her at Community Healthcare Center.
During the latter half of her life, she worked as a cook at Marion Harding High School. She then became the cook at the Marion Towers, where she lived for over 20 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; infant brother, Edward and sister, Rosemary; her former husband, Verlin L. White; her son, Robert E. Street Jr.; and her daughter, Geneva M. Edwards.
She is survived by her brother, Robert G. (Anni) Haynes; her daughter, Waneta (Larry) Petty of North Canton; her grandchildren, Karen (Ron) Marzlin of Green, David Petty of Wadsworth, and Eric Spears; and seven great-grandchildren.
Per Dorothea's request, no services will be held. Gunder/Hall & Folk Funeral Directors are handling the arrangements.
