Estella Irene Hess, age 92, of Galion and formerly of Mount Gilead died late Wednesday night, January 5, 2011 at Millcreek Nursing in Galion.
She was born on December 24, 1918 in Morrow County the daughter of the late Hiram K. and Ethel (Newberry) Van Dorn.
On December 24, 1937 she married Samuel G. Hess and they were married for 48 years before his passing on October 19, 1986.
She was a member of the Pines Christian Church.
Estella loved animals, and before moving into town from the family farm she had both dogs and sheep.
She also had a beautiful flower garden that she would tend.
Estella will be missed by her nieces and nephews Eileen (Dale) Baker of Columbus, Emily Wildman of Grove City, Edgar Reed of Galion, and Don Reed of Cardington.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her brother Herbert Van Dorn; and her sisters Rosie Davids and Amy Reed.
Friends may call on the family on Sunday January 9, 2011 from 2-4 PM at the Snyder Funeral Home, 76 South Main Street, Mount Gilead. Minister Neil Gilliland will conduct services there on Monday at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in Bryn Zion Cemetery.
