Floyd E. Levings Sr., age 80 of Delaware and formerly of Sunbury passed away Sunday morning, January 16, 2011 at Arbors of Delaware.
He was born in Delaware on March 20, 1930 to the late Ernest and Bessie (Brush) Levings.
A US Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, he worked as a welder for Ohio Steel and Fabrication for 39 years, retiring in 1992. Floyd had been a lifelong resident of Delaware County and a resident of Sunbury for the 34 years.
Floyd enjoyed wood working, making crafts and small furniture as well as hunting coins with his metal detector. He also enjoyed fishing in his younger years. Hardworking and dedicated, he treasured time spent with family. He was always ready for a good game of poker or euchre.
He is survived by his 7 Sons: Floyd Jr. (Lee) of Edison, Jeff (Diane) of Sunbury, Roger (Kathy) of Newark, Chris of Bellefontaine, Wayne of Delaware, David (Jodi) of Delaware, Paul (Melissa) of Fredericktown, numerous Grandchildren and Great-grandchildren, Brother: Richard of Columbus, Sisters:, Barbara Borham of TN, Mary Mitchell of TX, Donna and Maxine Levings, Ethel Shoaf all of Delaware.
Preceded in death by his wife of 49 years: Mildred (Covrett)Brothers: Robert and Guy, and Sisters: Margie DeGroff, and Regina Bennett.
Friends may call Tuesday 5-8 p.m. at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, 75 W. William St., DELAWARE, where funeral services will be held Wednesday 1:00 p.m., burial with military honors provided by the Delaware County Veteran Assoc. will follow in Fairview Memorial Park. Friends may also call one hour prior to the funeral services.
