Genevieve C. Smith, 103, Marion, passed away on Tuesday, January 25, 2011 at Marion Pointe Nursing Home.
She was born on Sept. 14, 1907 to the late James M. and Mary A. (Cody) Hess in Malinta, Ohio.
Genevieve was married in 1928 to Everett C. Smith who preceded her in death in 1979.
She was a member of Grace Harvest Church, enjoyed her family and caring for them, formerly owned and operated a restaurant and lastly worked in home health nursing, she enjoyed a good life and health for over 100 years, and was a third cousin to the late "Buffalo Bill Cody."
She is survived by her daughter, Marsha S. (Harold) Holcomb of Marion; a son, Robert J. (Christin) Smith of Marion; 12 grandchildren, several great and great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Also preceding her in death were her
sons, Richard D. Smith and Walter Smith; daughters, Judy K. Adams and Mary A. Moore; brother, Clair Hess; sisters, Sonara Southward and Zelda Griffith.
A special mention for her care giver, Sandra K. Pelfrey, for her helping Genevieve's daughter, Marsha and granddaughter, Tammy with her care.
Family will receive friend from 2 – 5 p.m. on Sunday, January 30, 2011 at Gunder/Hall & Folk Funeral Directors. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 31, 2011 in the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Greg Masteller officiating. Burial will follow in Chapel Heights Memory Gardens.
