Mary Catherine McGuire, 95, of Marion passed away Sunday, January 2, 2011 at Grant Medical Center as a result of an automobile accident that occurred December 25, 2010.
She was born April 17, 1915 in Marion to the late Seth and Maude (Moats) Makeever. She married Leslie McGuire October 16, 1936 in Morrow County. Leslie past away in 1979.
Mary, who was lovingly remembered as Katie, served her church, Wesley Methodist on Olney Avenue, for over 40 years. Katie’s home was always the hub for all out-of-town family and friends. Her door was always open, and there was always food on the table for all who would come or had a need. More recently Katie had been known for her crocheting, and had made more afgans then anyone could remember. No matter what she was doing it was full of God’s love.
Mary is survived by two sons, Gary (Merial) McGuire of Oregon, and Leslie (Sandy) McGuire of Marion; nine grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; many great-great grandchildren; brothers, Robert (Betty) Makeever of Bucyrus, and Richard (Judy) Makeever of Bucyrus; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by her daughter, Linda Hogan; eight brothers; and one sister.
A funeral service will be held Friday, January 7, 2011 at 2:30 PM at Boyd-Born Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Chapel Heights Memory Gardens. Pastor Dwight Hord will officitate the service. Friends and loved ones may visit with the family Thursday, January 6, 2011 at the funeral home from 4-7 PM.
