Mary Ellen Hawkins age 85, of Marion, passed away Sunday, January 16, 2011 at Heartland of Marion.
Born in Marion February 23, 1925 to the late Morey O. and Mildred E. (Nash) Thompson.
Mary married William (Bill) Hawkins in May of 1964, he preceded her in death in 1989.
She is survived by one son, Charles Wilson of Valley Springs Ca., two granddaughters, Dee Wilson, and Sally Enriquez of Hollister, Ca., two sisters, Ida VanGorden of West Branch, MI. , Annette Bramell of Marion, four brothers, Harold (Donna) Thompson of Whittier, CA., Gerald (Sugar) Thompson of Marion, Mike (Cheryl) Pickens of Marion and John Thompson of South Carolina. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her husband William, parents, one sister, Eva Sisson, two brothers Earl (Jack) Thompson, and Morey Thompson Jr..
Mary was a member of Fite Memorial Baptist Church. She retired from Sears in Marion.
Family will receive friends from 12:00 noon till 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 20, 2011 at Gunder/Hall & Folk Funeral Directors with the services starting at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday with Rev. David Carlyle officiating. Burial will be in Marion Cemetery.
