Dempsey W. Plumley, 86, of Marion passed away Friday, February 25, 2011 at 9:25 PM at Heartland of Marion.
He was born June 21, 1924 in Hinton, West Virginia to the late Charles S. and Josephine (Gill) Plumley. He married Leona M. Bragg March 13, 1946 in Hinton.
Dempsey was a United States Navy Veteran and served during WWII. For 32 years he was a car inspector with C & O Railroad. He was also a member of Seventh Day Sabbath Church of God.
Dempsey is survived by his son, Doran Charles Plumley of Prospect, Ohio; daughter, Connie June Gilmore of Delaware, Ohio; grandchildren, Trina Lee Smith of Tennessee, Doran Charles Plumley, Jr. of Caledonia, Ohio, James R. Shearer, Jr. of Dayton, Ohio, and Shayne Plumley of Morral, Ohio; seven great grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter; and sister, Wanda Grimmett of Hinton, West Virginia.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Leona Plumley who passed away January 7, 2002; and two brothers.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, March 3, 2011 at 1 PM at Grand Prairie Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Wednesday, March 2 from 6-8 PM at Boyd-Born Funeral Home.
