Thomas W. Dean age 70 of Marion, Ohio, passed away Monday February 7, 2011 at his residence.
He was born July 22, 1940 in Williamsburg, W. Va. to the late Grady and Sylvia Dean.
On April 4, 1961 in Grand Prairie, Oh., he married Mary L. Johnson and she survives.
Thomas was retired as a Road Conductor after 37 years with Erie, Conrail, and then the Norfolk Southern Railroads.
He was a member of the Oak Knoll Baptist Church, an agent for Page Plus Cellular, The Richland County Fish and Game, and a member of The Brother Hood of the Railroad. Thomas loved to hunt and fish and also was an avid trader of motor homes. He was also a U.S. Air Force Veteran.
Other survivers include a son and daughter; Vincent R. (Lori) Dean of Crestline, Ohio and Darcy L. (John) Bolenbaugh of LaRue, Ohio; Six Grand children; Amanda, Chelsea, Kobie, Jett, Jordan, and Collin; three step grandchildren; Jennifer (Husband, Jeff), Jerard, and Jacob, and some foster grandchildren. Thomas also is survived by a brother and a sister; Henry (Joyce) Dean of Procious, W. Va., and Kitty Logan of Mt. Gilead, Ohio. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Besides his parents, Thomas was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters; Bill, Bob, and Joe Dean, and Evelyn Fink, and Adeline Price.
Funeral services will be Friday February 11, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at the Oak Knoll Baptist Church with the Rev. Al Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the Caledonia Cemetery with Military Rites conducted by the Marion County United Veterans Council. Friends may call at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home on Thursday February 10, 2011 from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M.
