Laura Dale Fry, 75, of Marion

Laura Dale Fry, age 75, of Marion, passed away Monday morning, September 19, 2011 at the Community Healthcare Center of Marion.

Laura was born on July 7, 1936 in Marion, Ohio, to Zenas Rhu and Jessie Eulalia (Fletcher) Kinney.

Laura was famous for the fact that she was born 3 months pre-mature weighing only 2lbs 3ozs. For many years, on Laura’s birthday, the Marion Star would come to the home to do a follow up story, with pictures, reporting her progress. Laura is described by her family as being a very sweet and kind person, happy all of the time and good to everyone she met. She enjoyed her times playing BINGO, her dog Penny and was devoted to her family. Laura was a member of the Moose Lodge and the American Legion.

Laura is survived by her daughters: Renee (Bryan) Beatty of Marion and Michelle Fleming of Mount Gilead; her grandchildren: Luke Powers, Levi (Jennifer) Powers, Lindsay Baker, Michael J. Baker, Lacey (Jeremy) Bishop, Nate (Chassidy) Fleming, Tyler Cope and Dustin Richardson; 4 Great grandchildren; Sisters: Carol (Charles) Custer and Dorothy Rubinsaal; Son-in-law Don Powers.

She is preceded in death by her husband Harry Fry; her children: Jeannine Powers and Randy L. Cope; her parents Zenas and Jessie Kinney; her former husband and her children’s father Nerol “Burt” Cope; Siblings: Maxine Allen, Ronald Kinney and Kenneth Kinney; and her Lifelong best friend Shirley (Charles) Stout.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, September 22, 2011 at the Denzer-Farison-Hottinger & Snyder Funeral Home, 360 East Center Street, Marion, from 5PM to 7PM. Funeral services will be held Friday at the funeral home at 11AM. Burial will be in the Caledonia Cemetery.

Memorial contributions, if desired, may be made to Acclaim Hospice.
