M. Marie Levien, age 72, of Marion, died Friday evening, September 16, 2011.
Marie was born on January 17, 1939 in Logan County, Ohio, the daughter of the late Roland and Hazel M. (Espy) Hines.
On August 15, 1986, Marie married Robert Levien and shared over 18 years of marriage with him before he preceded her in death on October 16, 2004.
Marie worked for General Telephone (now Frontier) for more than 31 years until her retirement. There, she performed many duties including operator, facility locator and test board. She was one of the first women to perform many of these duties.
Devoted to the Lord, Marie was a member of the Caledonia Church of Christ.
Marie was an avid bowler and traveled around the country bowling in tournaments, including in Las Vegas. She enjoyed painting pictures and making blankets. Marie loved animals and was especially fond of her cats. She was a generous and charitable woman who always helped with causes she believed in.
Marie will be missed by her brother, R.J. Hines of Tiffin and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, Marie was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
Marie’s family will greet friends from 5 – 7 p.m. on Monday, September 19, 2011 at the Denzer-Farison-Hottinger & Snyder Funeral Home, 360 E. Center St., Marion. Private family burial will take place at a later date at Chapel Heights Memory Gardens.
