David Brent Reid, age 46 of Ashley and formerly of Prospect passed away Friday, November 4th, 2011 at Grady Memorial Hospital with his mother by his sided following a two year battle against cancer.
He was born on December 7, 1964 in Marion, the beloved son of Jean (Tackett) Reid of Olive Hill, Kentucky and the late Fred Reid.
A graduate of Elgin High School in 1983 his activities centered on the love his guitar and music. A resident of Ashley for the past 21 years, he had worked for White Industries in Columbus as a printer.
With many enduring qualities, he was loved by all he was described as exceptional by his mother. Smart and funny; he was blessed with an outgoing personality, shown in his numerous friendships he nurtured throughout his 46 years.
With a profound love of music of which he played and listened, he also wrote music and played the guitar extensively. He also excelled as a photographer. Dave also enjoyed reading historical mysteries. His kind, gentle and considerate qualities will live on in those who were blessed to call him friend.
In addition to his mother Jean he is also survived by daughter Abigal Stephenson, niece Rochelle Sharrock, brother-in-law David Sharrock extended family and numerous lifelong friends.
He was preceded in death by his father on June 14, 1998 and only sister Diane Sharrock on February 8, 2006.
Friends may call Tuesday 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, 75 W. William St., Delaware and Thursday 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill, Kentucky, where a service celebrating his life will be held Friday 1:00 p.m. with Pastor JC Bond officiating. Burial will follow in Garvin Ridge Cemetery in Olive Hill, KY.
