Dorothy L. Shonk age 84 of Russells Point, Ohio passed away Tuesday October 31, 2011 at her residence.
She was born February 24, 1927 in Sunbury, Ohio to the late Lemuel and Etta (Starkey) Wolfe.
On July 31, 1954 she married Roy P. "Jiggs" Shonk and he preceded her in death on December 9, 1993.
Dorothy was a 1948 graduate of Pleasant High School. In 1972 she became a Licensed Practical Nurse of which she was quite proud of. She was retired as an L.P.N. working at Grady Memorial Hospital in Delaware, Ohio.
Dorothy is survived by three sons and a daughter; Tree Wolfie of Cleveland, Ohio, John (Judy) Sprague of Mt. Gilead, Ohio, Roy (Deborah) Shonk of Ashley, Ohio and Fred Shonk of Russells Point, Ohio; also, nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Dorothy is also survived by three sisters; Vella Shonk of Marion, Ohio, Audrey Todd of Findlay, Ohio and Nellie (Joe) Oman of Dunkirk, Ohio, and also several nephews survive.
Besides her parents and husband, Dorothy was also preceded in death by a brother, Kenny Sprague.
Funeral Services for Dorothy will be Tuesday November 8, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home. Officiating the service will be Rev. Joseph Oman. Burial will follow in the Grand Prairie Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday November 7, 2011 from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M.
