James W. Alexander, age 92, of Marion, OH passed away Saturday November, 12, 2011 at the Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky, OH.
He was born to the late Elmer Ellsworth and May (Coulson) Alexander on August 18, 1919 in Marion, OH.
On December 24, 1944 he married Helen L. Walters who survives him in death. Mr. Alexander served his country during WWII in the Army and later retired from Isaly’s and Smith Dairy. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed hunting with his children.
James is survived by his wife Helen Alexander of Marion, three sons: James E. (Leslie) Alexander of Sandusky, OH, Jon K. (Connie) Alexander of Marion, and Joel W. Alexander of Marion. Also surviving are eight grandchildren: Josh Alexander, Lacey Alexander, Tyler Alexander, Jeanelle Alexander, Ronnie Napper, Rona Jones, Emily Mingus, and Hannah Mingus and two great-grandchildren: Chesney Alexander and Reise Thomas. He is preceded in death by one brother: Herbert Alexander, one grandchild, Jason Alexander, and two great-grandchildren: Brandolyn and Melinda Alexander.
The Alexander family will receive friends Wednesday, November 16, 2011 from 6 until 8 PM at Gunder/Hall & Folk Funeral Directors. A funeral service will be held at Gunder/Hall & Folk Funeral Directors Thursday, November 17, 2011 at 10:30 AM with Pastor Doug Ford officiating followed by burial at Chapel Heights Memory Gardens. Graveside services will be conducted by Marion County United Veterans Council.
