Paul Lee Nauman, age 73, of Chesterville, died unexpectedly on Thursday, November 17, 2011, of injuries sustained in an automobile accident after being hit by a drunk driver.
Paul was born at the family farm near Chesterville on June, 2, 1938, the son of the late Albert N. and Florence I. (Reynolds) Nauman. He graduated from Chesterville High School in the Class of 1957.
On July 25, 1958, Paul married the love of his life, Patricia “Pat” Snyder, in Chesterville. Together, they raised three children and shared over 53 wonderful years of marriage. They attended the Sparta Advent Christian Church. They enjoyed traveling and spent the winters in Florida many years.
Over the years, Paul hauled products in the trucking industry, spent some time farming, and worked in construction building homes. He had a great work ethic and taught his children the value of hard work, but also found ways to make it fun for them.
Paul loved to laugh, laughing so hard at times he would almost make himself pass out in doing so. He loved all of his family and numerous friends, never knowing a stranger. Paul was an especially proud grandpa. He found a way to attend almost every function his grandchildren were involved in. For those who knew Paul, they will truly miss his fun loving and ornery nature.
Paul will be dearly missed by his wife, Patricia; three children: Kim (Loren) Mast, Roger (Bonita) Nauman, Tracy (Melanie) Nauman; eight grandchildren: Amanda (Anthony) Wilson, Justin Mast, Ashley Nauman, Dereck Nauman, Allyson (Lamar) Hammons, Avery (Jackie) Nauman, Chelsea Nauman, Kelly Mast; nine great grandchildren: Kenna Mast, Amarie Morgan, Dane Nauman, Trae Nauman, Atticus Wilson, Jacy Nauman, Keaton Hammons, Rhylee Wilson, and Gavin Wilson; brother Kenneth Nauman; three sisters: Betty Stevens, Mary Jane Kemmer, and Anna Sherman.
In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Nauman, and a granddaughter, Alexandria Nauman.
The Nauman family will greet friends from 4 – 8 p.m. on Tuesday, November 22, 2011, at the Gilead Friends Church, 3613 Gilead Twp. Rd. 115, Mount Gilead. A service celebrating his life will also be held there on Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Don Linn and Pastor Brian Mosher officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in Chesterville with Pastor David Young officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to Morrow County Gideons. Snyder Funeral Homes of Mount Gilead is honored to have been chosen to serve Paul’s family, and condolences may be expressed to them online by visiting www.snyderfuneralhomes.com.
