Pauline Decker, age 97, of Mount Gilead, died late Sunday evening, November 13, 2011, at the Lexington Court Care Center.
On July 5, 1914, Pauline was born in Marion County, the daughter of the late Leonard and Emma (Craner) McCann. She was raised in the Waldo area, where she also attended schools.
For over 30 years, Pauline worked as an assembler at the North Electric Company in Mount Gilead and Galion.
A woman of faith, Pauline was a 50 year member of the Trinity United Methodist Church.
Having a green thumb, Pauline enjoyed tending to her flower garden and raising tomatoes. She also enjoyed shopping, always looking for a good deal.
Most important of all to Pauline was her family, with her children and grandchildren being the apples of her eye.
She will be dearly missed by her three sons: Jerry Decker of Greenfield, Max (Connie) Decker of Lexington, and Dave (Sandy) Decker of Mount Gilead; 11 grandchildren: Polly, Suzi, Todd, Terry, Jodi, Kelly, Pat, Debbie, Daniell, Michael, and Jimmy; and numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Including her parents, Pauline was preceded in death by four brothers and five sisters.
The Decker family will greet friends from 4 – 7 p.m. on Thursday, November 17, 2011, at the Snyder Funeral Home, Craven Chapel, 67 N. Main St., Mount Gilead. Services honoring her life will also be held there on Friday at 10:00 a.m., with Pastor Chuck Graham officiating. Burial will follow in Rivercliff Cemetery.
