Raymon F. Anderson, age 81, of Marion, passed away Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at The Laurels of Norworth in Worthington, Ohio.
Ray was born on November 4, 1930 in Dayton, Ohio, the son of Joseph Edwin and Genevieve (Hartman) Anderson.
In 1949, Raymon enlisted in the United States Army and fought during the Korean War serving as a radio operator and then later serving in the Reserves based out of Columbus.
On February 19, 1966, Ray was united in marriage to his special love, Gail Raymond, in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio.
Ray worked for the Internal Revenue Service as a Revenue Officer, his regional office was based in Cincinnati, and he primarily worked in Marion County and Morrow County. He retired from the IRS in, 1986, after over 27 years of service.
Ray had the incredible gift of making people laugh. He always had a joke with a dry sense of humor that could make anyone laugh; he was a true entertainer. As an actor, he could be seen on stage performing in Community Theaters throughout all of Central Ohio. His lists of achievements in entertainment are many. He began his acting career in the 1960’s; after retiring from the IRS he acted in many television commercials as well as appearing in many print ads, doing voice-overs for several companies and had auditions for movie roles. In addition to his acting, Ray was an avid reader with a passion for studying history.
Ray was a member of many organizations including the V.F.W., Screen Actors Guild, the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, and the National Rifle Association.
Ray will be dearly missed by his children: Lisa (David) Fultz, Douglas Anderson and Catherine Anderson, all of Columbus; One sister Katherine Conroy; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Gail, his parents, and siblings: Florence Meara, Joseph M. Anderson and Stephen E. Anderson.
Ray’s family will greet friends from 2PM to 4PM on Saturday, November 26, 2011, at the Emanuel Lutheran Church, 241 S. Prospect St., Marion. A Memorial service will immediately follow at 4PM; Pastor Mark Schuring will be officiating.
