Joseph Gerard Schroeck, 86, of Marion

Joseph Gerard Schroeck, age 86, of Marion passed away at his home on Friday, December 9, 2011.

On July 22, 1925, Mr. Schroeck was born to the late Philip and Elizabeth (Winschel) Schroeck in Erie, Pa.

He married Pauline J. Brown on July 2, 1948 who survives.

Joseph earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Gannon University in Erie, PA. Joseph proudly served our county for two and a half years in the 20th Air Force and one and half years in the South Pacific.  He later retried, after 34 years of service, from The General Telephone Company of Ohio as an account. Mr. Schroeck also served the Marion community as an Accounting Instructor at Marion Technical College.

In addition to being a proud member of St. Mary Church in Marion, Ohio, Mr. Schroeck was a member of the Knights of Columbus, AARP, Past President Civitan, Big Brothers, American Legion Post 584, and St. Vincent De Paul.

Surviving Mr. Schroeck, in death, include his wife Pauline J. (Brown) Schroeck, children Gerard Schroeck of Tucson, AZ., Edward (Carol) Schroeck of Ellsworth, MI., Barbara (David) Shine of Fostoria, OH., Sharon Hoover of Marion, OH., 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by one sister Mary Ann Schroeck.

Visitation will be held Monday, December 12, 2011 from 4PM until 7PM at Gunder/Hall & Folk Funeral Directors in Marion, OH. with Parish Prayer Services at 4 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, December 13, 2011, 10:30 AM at St. Mary Church, 251 North Main St, Marion, OH, with Fr. Michal Nimocks officiating. Following Mass will be a Veteran Services provided by Marion County United Veteran’s Council.  A graveside service will be held in the Calvary Cemetery, Erie, PA.
