Kermit P. Massey, age 73, of Marion, OH died Monday December 5, 2011 at 4:52 PM in Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, OH, following heart complications with family by his side.
He was born on December 29, 1937 in Keith, West Virginia to the late Chester A. and Laura P. Massey.
He married Kay (Nutter) Massey on November 10, 1956 who survives, along with three daughters Deborah (Mike) Wagner of Marion, Sandra (Dixie) Hinze of Marion, Jamie (Troy) Childress of Bluffton, OH, two brothers Emmitt Massey of West Virginia, and Robert Massey of Marion, sister Pat Deickert of Marion, ten grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A daughter Brenda S. Wallace and a son Kermit “Bam” Massey, JR are deceased along with one sister and two brothers. Daughter-in-law Angela Massey and son-in-law Fred Wallace survive.
Kermit worked at Pollack Steel and Armco Steel before retiring with 29 years of service. He was a member of Moose Lodge #889, formally AM Legion Post 162, Eagles Arie 337. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, playing the guitar and other musical instruments along with Ohio State sports and Cleveland Browns Football.
Friends my call Thursday, December 8, 2011 from 4 PM until 8 PM at Gunder/Hall & Folk Funeral Directors where services will be held Friday, December 9, 2011 at 1 PM with Rev. Keith Irey Officiating. Burial will follow in Marion Cemetery.
