Persis J. Cook, age 87, of Mount Gilead and formerly of Columbus, died peacefully on Sunday morning, December 18, 2011, at the Woodside Village Care Center where she has resided since 2003.
On October 30, 1924, Persis was born in Portsmouth, Ohio, the daughter of the late Russell and Ada (Chaffin) Craigmiles.
A loving homemaker, Persis enjoyed cooking for and taking care of her family.
As a family, they moved to Columbus in 1955, where Persis worked at the R. G. Barry Shoes Factory in Columbus for 19 years until her retirement.
She will be missed by her son, Edward (Sandra) Cook of Mount Gilead; four granddaughters: Tina (Reece) Clemons, Heather (Phil) Brokow, and Shannon (Brian) Capers, all three of Columbus, and Sarah Smith of Oregon; three great-grandchildren: Maddie, Elizabeth and Troy.
Including her parents, Persis was preceded in death by her husband, Roy E. Cook; her daughter, Judith Smith; and her brother, Eugene Craigmiles.
Services for Persis will be observed privately by her family and burial will take place in Scioto Burial Park in Portsmouth, Ohio.
