Estel C. Baker Sr. age 83 of Marion, Ohio passed away Thursday, February 23, 2012 at his residence.
He was born August 21, 1928 in Oak Hill, Ohio to the late Basil R. and Roxie Ann (Dulaney) Baker.
On May 8, 1949 in Greenup, KY., he married Mabel L. (Jaggers) Baker, she preceded her in death on June 28, 2011.
Estel was a member of the National Guard. He retired after 39 years of service at Smith Trucking as a diesel mechanic and truck driver.
He is survived by a son, Estel C. Baker Jr. of Marion, OH., four daughters, Sherry (Dillard) Smith of Cardington, OH., Evonda (Michael) Markley of Marion, OH., Teresa A. Baker of Marion, OH., Mary L. Johnson of Chesterville, OH., a sister, Shirley L. Thompson of Marion, OH., brother in law, Gordon (Portia) Jaggers of Marion, OH., 16 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, 12 great great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Estel was preceded in death by his parents, wife and a grandson, Ronald L. Welch Jr.
Graveside Services will be held Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at 2:30 PM at Chapel Heights Memory Gardens with Rev. Ed Moore officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be Tuesday, February 28, 2012 from 1 -2 PM at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home.
