Irene Pack, 88, of Marion

Irene Pack, age 88, of Marion, Ohio, passed away on February 21st, 2012 at Heartland of Marion.

She was born October 5, 1923 in Inez, Kentucky to the late Martin and Edith (Cornett) Branham.

On February 15, 1944, she married the love of her life, James S. “Jim” Pack.  Together they raised four children and shared nearly 44 years of marriage.  He preceded her in death on November 19, 1987.

She was of the Baptist faith.  Lovingly known as “Nannie” to her grandchildren and close friends, Irene was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.  She always put her family first and was always there to help when her family needed her.

She enjoyed the flowers growing in her yard, but her favorite past-time was sitting on her front porch talking with the neighbor ladies and family.

She will be dearly missed by her son, Arlen (Jackie) Pack of Marion, three daughters, Janet (Donald) Akers, Leadean Brammer, Arlene Porter (special friend Terry James) all of Marion.  She is also survived by her sister, Minnie Blair, Staffordsville, Kentucky, 9 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

Including her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by a son, James David, 2 grandsons, son-in-law, Sherman Brammer, brothers, L.K., Zachary, Mont, Luther, Homer, and Albert Branhan, sisters, Lucille Branham, Carrie Fletcher, Thelma Endicott-Parsons, and twin, Marie Branham, all from Inez, Kentucky.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, February 24th at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home.  Officiating the services will be Pastor Terry Cudd.  Burial will follow at the Marion Cemetery.  Her grandson, Michael Pack, and great-grandsons, Todd McDuffie, Aaron Evans, Joshua Brammer, Christian Evans, Daniel Persinger, and Jacob Lehner will act as pallbearers.  Visitation for family and friends will be on Thursday, February 23rd from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m.
