James E. Caudill (Jim), 73, of Marion, OH, passed away on Friday, February 10, 2012.
He was born to Garland and Emily Caudill on September 26, 1938 in Gallipolis, Ohio. Garland married Alma (O'Meara) Caudill when Jim was 11 years old.
Jim was married to Jeannine (Bond) Caudill for 48 years.
Following a three-year enlistment in the U.S. Navy, Jim was employed by GTE for eleven years. He was owner and operator of Associated Roofing with Ed Caudill, his brother.
He was a member of AMVETS Post 138 and VFW Post 7201, where he enjoyed visiting with his numerous friends and veterans. He was a long-time member of the Marion Y-Men and was involved in numerous volunteer projects including the annual Christmas tree sale.
Jim was known for his good-humored nature and held onto that until the very end. He was a very gracious man and would help anyone in need.
He is survived by his son, John Caudill (Marion, OH), daughter, Julie (Todd) Austin (Marion, OH), son, Joe Caudill (Marion, OH), and daughter, Jennifer (Joe) Dranschak (Marion, OH), his twin brother Ed (Maxine) Caudill (Marion, OH), brother Wayne (Barb) Caudill (Boardman, OH), sister, Anita (Roger) Barron (Mt. Vernon, OH), and step-sister, Mollie O'Meara (Rio Rancho, NM). Jim had 17 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his father, Garland Caudill, mother, Emily (Boston) Caudill, step-mother, Alma (O'Meara) Caudill, grandson, Johnathon Caudill, and nephew, Edwin Caudill, Jr.
Jim's family would like to thank Heartland Hospice for the care they provided. They would also like to extend a special thanks to Wanda Reed who helped care for him in his final weeks. Jim and Wanda became fast friends, and her loving care provided him the comfort he needed as he began his journey home.
A memorial service will be held at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home on Thursday, February 16, 2012 at 10:30 AM. Officiating the service will be Rev. Colleen Ogle. There will be a graveside service at a later date. Calling hours are scheduled for Wednesday, February 15, 2012 from 4-7 PM at the funeral home.
