Leonard F. (Johnny) Snellenberger, Jr., 79, of Waldo

Leonard F. (Johnny) Snellenberger, Jr. age 79 of Waldo, Ohio went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at Partners of Marion Care & Rehabilitation Center with his family by his side.

He was born on November 21st, 1932 in Panther, West Virginia to the late Leonard F. Snellenberger, Sr. and Pearl Madge (Anglin) Snellenberger.

Leonard was a veteran of the United States Army during the Korean War.

On June 18th, 1951, he married Ethel L. Roberts, the love of his life, in Clintwood, Virginia, and they later moved to Marion, Ohio in 1955.  On June 18th, 2011, Leonard and Ethel celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary at their home with family and friends.

He was employed over forty years at Eaton Corporation in Marion, Ohio as a tool and die maker from 1955-1995.

He often traveled to West Virginia for family vacations; he loved to go fishing; enjoyed working on cars; loved to plant a vegetable garden; and enjoyed watching boxing and the NASCAR races.

Leonard is survived by his loving, devoted wife, Ethel Snellenberger, and two daughters, Sandy Lynn (Snellenberger) Wampler of Marion, Ohio, and Beverly Jean (Snellenberger) Howald and her husband, John, of Waldo, Ohio, two granddaughters, Jennifer Howald of Downtown Columbus, Ohio, and Jeana Howald of Westerville, Ohio.  Leonard is survived by his loving sister, Lorene (Snellenberger) Barlow and her husband, Larry, of Marion, Ohio, one brother, Dusty Dotson of Virginia, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Norma F. Collins, Shirley A. Bazzie, and Bonnie Sue Anglin, and one brother, Elmer (Bobby) G. Snellenberger.

Funeral services for Leonard will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at 10:00 AM at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home.  Officiating the service will be Chaplain Keith Irey and Chaplain Pamela Lamb-Hart.  Burial will follow at the Grand Prairie Cemetery in Brush Ridge, Ohio.  Family and friends will act as pallbearers.  Visitation for family and friends will be on Friday, February 17, 2012 from 4-7 PM.
