Paul J. Dye, age 70, of Mount Gilead, died peacefully on Thursday evening, February 2, 2012, at the Galion Community Hospital following a brief illness.
On March 20, 1941, Paul was born in Swords Creek, Virginia, the oldest of five children of the late Estil and Gladys (Webb) Dye.
After moving to Morrow County while he was in grade school, he then graduated from Chesterville High School in the Class of 1959.
Shortly after graduation, Paul enlisted to join the U.S. Army, serving as a tank commander and earning the rank of first sergeant while he was stationed in Fort Hood, Texas. Upon his honorable discharge, Paul returned home to Morrow County.
He will be missed by his wife, Linda Dye of Mount Gilead; three children: Mike Dye of Mount Gilead, Kurt Dye of Fulton, and Christina Fowler of New Philadelphia; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two brothers: Roger (Peggy) Dye of Iberia, and Gary (Anita) Dye of Mount Gilead; a sister, Judith (Dave) Smith of Cardington; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Including his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his brother, Ronald Dye.
The Dye family will greet friends from 10 a.m. to Noon on Monday, February 6, 2012, at the Snyder Funeral Home, Craven Chapel, 67 N. Main St., Mount Gilead. Services honoring his life will follow at 12:00 p.m. with his niece, Mellissa Hartson officiating. Burial with military honors provided by the V.F.W. Post 8054 and AmVets Post 87 will follow in Bryn Zion Cemetery.
