Barbara Ellen Dunn, 52, of Marion

Barbara Ellen Dunn, age 52, of Marion, died Monday afternoon, March 19, 2012, at the Marion General Hospital following a brief illness.

On May 22, 1959, Barbara was born in Louisville, Kentucky, the oldest of nine children of Mandy (Moore) Dunn of Marion, and the late Bobbie Dunn.

For many years, Barbara worked as a cashier at Wal-Mart and at Circle K in Marion.

A woman of faith, Barbara was a member of the International Pentecostal Church of Christ in Marion.  She also was a member of the American Legion Post 584, and of the Marion Moose Lodge.

Well known for being corky, Barbara was always outspoken and was quite the jokester.

For Barbara, her family and friends were everything to her and she especially loved talking on the phone with them.  She also looked forward to every holiday, dressing up every chance she could.  And she cherished every minute spent with her beloved grandchildren.

She will be dearly missed by her mother, Mandy Dunn; two daughters: Robin (Vernon) Pennington, and Rhonda (Anthony) Eckard, all three of Marion; four granddaughters: Katelee Rivers, Raylee and Shylee Pennington, and Makenzie Gaines; five siblings: Caroline (Larry) Hertenstein of Jackson, Freda Clarke of Portsmouth, Angie (Raymond) Hicks, Brian (Renee) Dunn, and Brad (Nancy) Dunn, all three of Marion; numerous nieces and nephews; and by her former husband, Gary Grega.

Including her father, Barbara was preceded in death by three brothers: Danny, Woody and Brett Dunn.

The Dunn family will greet friends from 4 – 7 p.m. on Friday, March 23, 2012, at the Denzer-Farison-Hottinger & Snyder Funeral Home, 360 E. Center St., Marion.  Services honoring her life will also be held there on Saturday at 2:00 p.m., with Rev. Marvin Tiller officiating.  Burial will be held in Siloam Cemetery in South Shore, Kentucky, on Monday at 1:00 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and they may be sent to the care of the funeral home.

Denzer-Farison-Hottinger & Snyder Funeral Home is honored to have been chosen to serve Barbara’s family, and your private condolences may be expressed to them by visiting www.snyderfuneralhomes.com.
